The end of summer may be fast approaching but there is still plenty of time to get out there and enjoy the warmth of the season before autumn approaches, especially with the Labor Day weekend coming up. This is a great time to load up the camper and get outside to enjoy a measure of that great Texas wilderness. Before you know it, summer will end and things will start to cool off, and the kids will be going back to school.
What better way to bring the family together or get out with a a group of friends than to explore some of the campsites in and around Montgomery county.

#5 - Park on the Lake RV Site
Featuring 100 waterfront sites with full hook-ups, Park on the Lake is located about 40 miles north of Houston, between Woodlands and Huntsville. The park offers gorgeous views of Lake Conroe throughout the grounds, and a boat launch with boat rentals, so you can take full advantage of the lake for fishing or simply a bit of sightseeing. The campsite also offers a clubhouse with a games room and even a 3 bedroom guest house if the camping thing doesn't work out.
#4 - Country Place RV Park
Tucked away near the small town of Cut N Shoot, TX just east of Conroe, Country Place RV Park is the quaint little park where you can camp amongst the pine and oak trees. For the fisherman, the park's biggest draw is its 3 ponds that feature the opportunity to capture bass, catfish and perch. Also, check out the Country Crafts and More Shop that houses many homemade and locally produced items, as well as some camping supplies - just in case you left something at home.

Surrounded by the lush natural beauty of the expansive Sam Houston National Forest, Double Lake has a little something for everyone - hiking, fishing or picnicking. The site offers 65 family sites, including 8 large group sites that are ideal for larger get togethers. The Double Lake campground is about 30 minutes east of Willis and Conroe.

Located just north of Lake Conroe in the scenic Sam Houston National Forest, this campsite gives you the opportunity to get off the beaten track for a more rustic camping experience. The campsites can be rented for less than $12 a night and offer great access to fishing, canoeing or kayaking in the nearby lakes. It's also a great starting point for those looking to undertake the infamous Lone Star Trail.

With over 300 sites available, this location is the ideal place to set up a tent or park the RV on the shores of Lake Conroe just south of Willis. It features the perfect spot to launch your boat from the boat launch within the park; or if you don't have a boat, you can take advantage of the paddle boat or canoe rentals. Tired after a day on the lake? Relax at the clubhouse in the pool or hot tub, or with a quick game of mini-golf.
